Nature is a storehouse of all the human necessities, from where you can satisfy all your needs. It fulfils all the amenities of the living beings. From fruits and vegetables to medicine, from the shade of the tree to the shade of the roof, from water and oxygen to everything.
We have already read about the benefits of honey and olive oil.
Apart from health benefits, these products have a large number of benefits in our day-to-day life.
Today we’ll be having a look at one more product with a numerous number of benefits related to health and fitness, one of the famous home remedy for several problems, Malus Domestica, also known as Malus Sylvestris, but commonly known as Apple Cider Vinegar. Apple Cider Vinegar contains vitamins and minerals such as vitamins B1, B2, B6, and C; folic acid; niacin; potassium; calcium; iron; magnesium; and many others. It is also used to make medicine.
Apart from using it for cooking, it can also be used for acne, skin, hair and weight loss treatment. The list is quite long, so I’ll be highlighting few important benefits of Apple Cider Vinegar.
Uses of apple cider vinegar for skin
People are very sensitive when it comes to their skin, especially women who are always cautious about their health. Being cautious is good, but don’t try to be Anna Hazare, you will never be able to pass the Lokpal bill. So, be careful about your diet but don’t restrict it to carrots, radish and cucumber. If you want to bring up a change, make that change somewhere else.
Let me tell you how.
Do you know that Apple Cider Vinegar has high contents of Acetic Acid, which is a potent antimicrobial!
Therefore, it has been used as a medicine from over thousand years ago, used to clean the wound.
Apple cider vinegar works for a variety of skin ailments, from bug bites to poison ivy to sunburn. Between the stinging, peeling, and red-hot skin, there are few things worse than a really bad sunburn. You can apply it directly to the irritated area or try soaking in a bath with about one cup of vinegar added.
We all know about bruise marks. Bruises hit us hard, and once they do, they linger. Fade the purplish-bluish hues by smoothing on some apple cider vinegar—its anti-inflammatory properties help minimise the painful-looking tint.
Diluted apple cider vinegar on a cotton ball makes a simple facial toner and cleanser to help prevent breakouts. It might even help bruises to fade faster.
Tips: You can also use it as a deodorant due to its anti-bacterial nature. Dab a bit under your arms to use a natural deodorant. Similarly, you can use it to eliminate foot odour.
Uses of apple cider vinegar for hair
Hair problem? Let’s see a natural solution.
Apple cider vinegar helps balance your scalp’s pH level. Apple cider vinegar can be used as a rinse for your hair after shampooing and will boost your hair's body and shine. Try a weekly rinse of one-third cup of vinegar mixed with four cups of water.
For people with dandruff problem, try spraying your scalp with a mixture of equal parts of vinegar and water. After doing that, wrap a towel around your head, and leave it to sit for an hour. Wash your hair and repeat twice a week to see some result.
Get rid of bad breath
Bad breath not only makes you quiet but also demoralise you. Either you brush daily or if it’s not working somehow, then apply this method. Gargle with it or sip a teaspoon to reap the fresh-breath benefits.
Soothe a sore throat
A sore throat can be painful and breathtaking (though not literally). Don’t worry, you can relieve yourself just by using this great remedy. Mix a quarter cup of ACV (Cider Vinegar) with the same amount of warm water and gargle with it. You can also try the mixture of warm water, ACV, cayenne pepper, and honey. Drink that one up!
Fights diabetes
Several studies have found that vinegar may help to lower glucose levels, making it a beneficial treatment for people with type 2 diabetes. The anti-glycemic effects of apple cider vinegar help to improve insulin sensitivity, which is essential to maintain the sugar levels of blood.
In a glass of filtered water, add a teaspoon of Apple Cider Vinegar and take 3 times a day to steady your stomach’s rate of digestion which in turn will keep blood sugar levels more consistent.
Tips: Be cautious to consult your physician before starting this treatment.
Helps in digestion
Sip before eating, especially if you love spicy and oily and other foods that make you sorry later. Add a teaspoon of honey and apple cider vinegar to a glass of warm water and drink it 30 minutes before you sit for your meal.
Fermented foods, like vinegar, have been shown to aid digestion by encouraging the growth of healthy gut bacteria.
Use of apple cider vinegar for weight loss
Apple Cider Vinegar promotes weight loss by speeding up the metabolism. A suggested remedy is to mix 2 teaspoons of the vinegar into a glass of water and drink this before every meal or sip it slowly throughout the day.
But how?
The acetic acid present in ACV suppresses your appetite, increases your metabolism, and reduces water retention. Scientists also state that apple cider vinegar interferes with the starch in the body, which means fewer calories enter the bloodstream, hence preventing you from getting bulky.
Relieve from arthritis pain
Arthritis or joint inflammation can lead to serious pain. While there may be several reasons for this condition, you can use this natural remedy to prevent or relieve from arthritis condition.
The potassium in cider vinegar is beneficial because it works to prevent calcium build-up in the joints, which is linked to joint stiffness.
The abundance of calcium, potassium, magnesium and other vital minerals makes apple cider vinegar a good candidate for maintaining bone health
Possible Cancer Combatant
There is some positive preliminary research suggesting apple cider vinegar can help prevent cancer. A few laboratory studies have found that vinegar may be able to kill cancer cells or slow their growth. However, epidemiological studies of people have yielded confusing results.
One study found that taking vinegar was associated with a decreased risk of oesophagal cancer. Another associated it with an increased risk for bladder cancer. Clearly, the jury is still out on cancer prevention. So, it could be an alternative to the cancer treatment method giving humans yet another possibility to fight cancer.
