All you need is some of the things you can easily find in your Kitchen.
1. Aloe Vera
Aloe Vera, also known as the ‘plant of immortality’ has been used for its healing properties since ancient time. It contains phytochemicals and other nutrients which are beneficial for hair, health and skin. It is generally a good habit to drink aloe Vera juice empty stomach every morning, to get maximum benefits of this plant.
Pure aloe gel can also be applied directly on the scalp. This prevents hair loss due to dry, irritated scalp. What it does is that it balances the pH level of the scalp. After massaging the head with aloe gel, wash your hair after a few hours. Do this twice a week for best results.
2. Azadirachta indica
Haven’t heard the name before, have you?
But you are surely aware of this thing. In India, it is popularly known as Neem.
Neem is considered to be a miraculous herb with uncountable benefits.
Boil a handful of neem leaves in 2 cups of water till the water becomes greenish. Use this water as the last rinse after you shampoo your hair. Do this at least once a week for the desired outcome.
3. Coconut Milk
Coconut milk is among the richest sources of tissue-nourishing, plant derivatives. Grind the grated coconut and squeeze it to remove its milk. Massage coconut milk on the scalp to reduce hair fall.
4. Olive oil
Olive oil is full of antioxidants. It can be considered as a best hair loss treatment. Vitamin E & Monounsaturated fatty acids which are present in the olive oil prevent the hair loss and promote the hair growth. Heat the olive oil by mixing with normal coconut oil. Apply the oil to hair when it is lukewarm. Leave it for 2 – 3hours and do the head bath. Do apply this every time before going to head bath.
5. Egg
The egg has several ingredients that can prevent or control hair loss. It is a rich source of sulphur and has phosphorous, selenium, iodine, zinc and protein. All these promote hair growth.
Using of egg white to hair will recharge the hair and gives smooth & shiny hair. If you want long and strong hair, you must follow this tip. Just break some eggs, remember not to use yolk. Collect only the egg white and apply as a mask to hair. Shampoo it after 15mins. You can feel the hair stronger and healthier. Repeat this at least once in a week to grow your hair faster.
6. Onion Juice
Onion juice helps treat hair loss due to its high sulphur content, which helps improve blood circulation to the hair follicles, regenerate hair follicles and reduce inflammation.
The antibacterial properties in onion juice also help kill germs and parasites and treat scalp infections that can cause hair loss.
Extract the juice of one onion by grating it and then strain it. Apply the juice directly onto the scalp. Leave it on for about 30 minutes, and then wash it off. Finally, shampoo your hair.
Mix together three tablespoons of onion juice and two tablespoons of aloe vera gel. You can also add one tablespoon of olive oil. Apply this mixture onto your scalp and leave it on for at least 30 minutes before rinsing it off and shampooing your hair.
Repeat either of these remedies two or three times a week for several weeks.
7. Indian Gooseberry(Amla)
Boil dried amla in coconut oil till the oil turns black in colour. Massage your scalp with this oil. This is an effective and very easy home remedy to check hair loss. There are also other ways where we can include amla in our hair care routine. Here are some methods to use amla effectively to control hair loss:
Use amla and shikakai powder that you can buy in Ayurvedic stores. Mix them both and make a paste. Apply this to your hair. Leave it on for a few minutes and wash off after a few minutes. Caution: If you have dry hair, skip shikakai.
Mix powdered amla with lime juice. Apply this on your scalp and leave on for some time. Wash off.
Soak it overnight. Use the water in the morning to rinse off your hair post shampooing.
The most effective method to reduce hair loss is to drink amla and shikakai juice. Yes, it tastes terrible but if you skip the preference of the taste buds once a day, the results will definitely be worth it.
8. Curd
The curd is an excellent remedy for improving the quality of hair and prevents hair loss as well. It is one of the best conditioners and can be used in various forms:
Apply the mixture of curd and black pepper on the hair. Wash off thoroughly when dry.
Mix curd with honey and apply this on your hair. Applying curd with honey or lime juice moisturises your hair.
It also makes your hair shiny. This natural hair mask is also effective against dandruff which can be a cause of hair loss.
9. Beetroot juice
Beetroot is rich in Phosphorous, calcium, protein, potassium, carbohydrates and vitamin B and C. These are essential nutrients for hair growth.
Include it in your diet for better and healthy hair growth.
Alternatively, you can also use beetroot leaves. Boil the beetroot leaves in water and mix them in henna, making a paste. Apply this thick paste to scalp and leave it for 20 minutes. Wash the hair with cold water. Do this at least twice in a week.
10. Onion juice
Onion is a rich source of sulphur which helps in hair growth by increasing collagen production. Using its juice on the scalp can help in controlling hair fall. Did you know these onion health benefits?
Chop one onion finely and squeeze out its juice.
Apply the juice on your scalp and let it stay for 15 minutes.
Now rinse with a mild shampoo and let your hair air dry.

Although the strong smell of onion makes it repulsive to many people, but you have to come to terms with it if you want to have long and gorgeous tresses. The sulphur present in onions boosts the formation of collagen tissues that promotes hair growth. You can either use red onions or shallots for this remedy. Take 2 to 3 onions and grate them to extract the juice. Apply this juice on the scalp and leave it on for 30 minutes. Now, wash your hair with a mild shampoo. This remedy can be repeated once every week.
11. Rosemary Oil
Rosemary oil is one of the best oils to reduce hair loss usually found in the Middle Eastern countries. Prepared from rosemary herb, this oil increases cell division and accelerates the blood circulation. It has proved to be effective for hair growth and is used as a hair tonic.
Take two tablespoons of shampoo and mix two tablespoons of rosemary oil into it. Shampoo your hair with this mixture. You can also massage your scalp with equal amounts of olive oil and rosemary oil.
12. Potatoes
Yes, surprisingly you can also use the potato to prevent the hair fall.
Being a rich source of nutrients such as vitamins A, B and C, calcium, potassium, iron and phosphorus, potatoes are an amazing natural remedy for hair growth, preventing dryness of hair and premature greying.. Take 1 ½ cups of potato juice in a bowl. Add a teaspoon of honey, a little bit of water and 1 egg yolk and mix it together. Apply this mixture to damp hair and leave it on for 30 minutes. Wash off with a mild shampoo.
Doing this once a week is more than enough to strengthen and rejuvenate weak and brittle hair. After a few months, you will notice the change in your hair.
